Our Approach

Most inland transit losses are caused by something the policy could have covered.

The recurring claim sources on Indian inland routes are well-understood: road condition damage, lashing failure, theft on overnight halts, transhipment errors. A well-structured Inland Transit policy addresses each of these with the right clauses and an accurate sum insured per consignment.

Key Benefits

What you get when we place this cover

Right cover basis for your shipping pattern
Single-consignment, declaration or open cover, we place what matches your actual transit frequency, not the basis that's easiest to administer.
Sum insured set against current value
Single-consignment values calculated against current invoice values, not historic declared values that have drifted with inflation.
Documentation that survives a claim
We document the consignment-by-consignment values and route conditions so a claim does not get stuck on missing paperwork.
Open cover for repeat shippers
Annual open-cover policies for clients with recurring shipments, one policy administers an entire year's transit, with monthly declarations.
FAQ

Common Questions

A motor policy's Goods in Transit extension covers cargo only in the specific vehicle named on the policy. An Inland Transit policy covers the cargo itself, regardless of vehicle, and applies through any combination of road, rail or IWT modes. For regular shippers, Inland Transit is the right structure.
Both structures are available. Single-consignment policies are appropriate for one-off high-value shipments. Open-cover policies with monthly declarations are appropriate for regular shippers; the value of each consignment is declared but the policy administration is annual.
Yes, subject to standard ICC clauses. Theft from a parked or halted vehicle is covered, though most policies require the vehicle to be secured and, in some cases, parked at an enclosed location overnight.
Cover applies to the goods inside the packaging. Damage solely to outer packaging without affecting the goods is typically excluded. Where outer packaging is the saleable presentation (e.g. consumer-goods boxes), we extend the cover specifically.
