What Your Policy Covers

A structured placement designed to close every material gap in your risk exposure, not a standard policy sold off the shelf.

Fire & Special Perils
Covers the shop premises (if owned) and all stock, furniture, fixtures and fittings against fire, explosion, lightning, storm, cyclone, flood, impact and allied perils at current replacement values.
Burglary & Housebreaking
Covers loss of stock, cash and office equipment from the shop following forced and violent entry during or outside trading hours, with reinstatement cost available for specified high-value items.
Cash in Safe & Transit
Covers cash held in your shop safe, petty cash on the premises and cash in transit to and from the bank, up to specified limits per event and per transit.
Plate Glass
Covers the cost of replacing shop front glass, display window panels and other glass forming part of the shop structure when accidentally broken.
Public Liability
Covers legal liability for bodily injury to customers, visitors and delivery personnel on your premises, and for accidental damage to third-party property, with legal defence costs included.
Personal Accident for Owner
Optional cover for the shop owner or named employees for accidental death, permanent disability and temporary disablement, providing income protection when the owner cannot work.

Our Approach

Every Risk a Retail Shop Faces, Addressed in a Single Policy

A retail shop simultaneously faces stock loss from fire, break-in and flood; liability for a customer's slip and fall; broken windows; and the owner's own accident risk. The shopkeeper's policy was designed specifically for this combination, addressing each risk at a bundled price that individual placements cannot match.

We assess your shop footprint, peak stock value (seasonal peaks included), cash-handling volume, glass area and customer footfall to set each section's sum insured correctly rather than applying generic defaults.
For jewellers, electronics retailers and other high-value stock environments, we obtain specialist endorsements for enhanced burglary conditions, valuables scheduling and cash transit limits beyond the standard shopkeeper policy.
We clarify what is and is not covered in plain terms before placement, the most common complaint from shopkeepers with off-the-shelf policies is discovering exclusions for the first time during a claim.

How We Work

From Brief to Bound Cover

Three steps from your first conversation to a policy that is correctly structured and competitively priced.

01
Shop Risk Assessment
We assess your premises area, stock values, peak seasonal inventory, cash handling procedures, security infrastructure and customer footfall to determine the correct sum insured for each section.
02
Policy Placement
We approach insurers with shopkeeper package products and select the insurer offering the broadest coverage for your retail type, with the most straightforward claims process.
03
Annual Review
At renewal, we update stock values for business growth, review any security improvements and confirm the cash and liability limits remain appropriate for your current trading volumes.
Key Benefits

Why Clients Place This Cover Through Us

Complete Single-Policy Cover
Fire, burglary, cash, glass, liability and personal accident in one document, one renewal date, one premium payment, one claims contact.
Bundled Premium Saving
Package pricing is materially cheaper than placing each section separately, a significant benefit for retailers operating on tight margins.
Peak Stock Valuation
We calculate your sum insured on peak stock levels, pre-festival and seasonal inventory highs, rather than average holding, preventing under-insurance when you are most exposed.
Streamlined Claims Settlement
For retail claims, we use insurer relationships to accelerate surveyor attendance and settlement, minimising the period your business is disrupted.
FAQ

Common Questions

A fire policy covers only fire and allied perils for the building and contents. A shopkeeper's policy adds burglary, cash, plate glass, public liability and personal accident, covering the full range of risks a retail business faces. The bundled policy is almost always better value for standalone retail operations.
Standard shopkeeper policies cover stock inside the locked premises. Stock in window displays when the shop is unattended may be subject to specific conditions or a sub-limit. We confirm the display stock position clearly for each client and include an appropriate extension where needed.
Storm-driven water ingress and burst pipe damage may be covered under the fire and special perils section, depending on the specific perils included. Slow seepage or gradual deterioration is excluded. Flood from external rising water requires a specific extension. We confirm which perils are included in writing.
Most shopkeeper policies include an unoccupancy clause that modifies or suspends cover after 30 consecutive days of vacancy. If you plan a closure for renovation or any other reason, notify us in advance so we can arrange an appropriate extension or endorsement.
Yes. A fidelity guarantee extension covers loss of cash or stock caused by dishonest acts of employees, relevant for shops with multiple staff handling cash or managing stock. We include this extension for clients with three or more employees in cash-handling roles.

One policy for every risk your shop faces, correctly valued.

Most shopkeeper policies are placed on generic sums that leave the owner under-insured at claims time. We price it properly from the start.
